1. Product Vision and Purpose

As in-car technology advances, drivers are no longer satisfied with outdated systems that offer limited connectivity. They now expect seamless streaming, intelligent interaction, and always-on internet access. Unfortunately, most factory-installed infotainment units fall far behind these expectations.

We designed the CarPlay AI Box-Q2S, powered by Android 13, to meet this demand. It enables drivers to upgrade their car’s interface without replacing the original head unit, instantly transforming older vehicles into connected, smart platforms — all through a plug-and-play setup.

Qualcomm Snapdragon Chipset for Powerful Performance

The Q2S features the upgraded Qualcomm 6115 processor, delivering data transfer rates of up to 1.5GB/s — far superior to conventional eMMC solutions. Its octa-core CPU ensures fast booting, lag-free video playback, and fluid multitasking across all in-car apps.

Built-In 4G LTE + High-Speed WiFi

With a fully integrated 4G LTE module, the Q2S can connect to the internet independently — no phone tethering required. It supports direct streaming of services like YouTube, Netflix, and Spotify. Thanks to high-speed WiFi capabilities, users experience consistent and stable connectivity.

Generous Memory and Storage

Available in 4GB/8GB RAM and 64GB/128GB storage configurations, the device handles heavy app usage, system updates, and multimedia storage with ease.

Smart Voice Assistant + RGB Lighting

Q2S includes a multilingual voice assistant (Chinese/English) for hands-free control. An RGB ambient light ring adds a sleek, modern aesthetic and enhances the in-car tech feel — especially in low-light conditions.

3. Development Journey and Engineering Challenges

Broad Compatibility with CarPlay Systems

One of our primary engineering challenges was ensuring compatibility with a wide range of OEM infotainment systems via Apple CarPlay. We built a database of head unit specifications across numerous brands and model years and tested each to guarantee broad plug-and-play compatibility across most vehicle types.

Stability and Power Management

Cars present a volatile electrical environment, with frequent voltage fluctuations and power cycling. To address this, we developed a custom power-loss protection system, implemented fast boot routines, and optimized power usage algorithms to maintain stability under real-world driving conditions.

Efficient Passive Cooling Design

To manage heat without fans or thermal paste, we engineered a multi-channel passive ventilation structure. Combined with intelligent thermal control software, it keeps internal temperatures safe — even during sustained high-load operation.
